Colleen Doran second woman added to Wizard world Hall of Legends

Colleen Doran has been announced as the most recent addition to the Wizard world Hall of Legends, the seventh. (I’ve noted the first five, and the sixth was the deceased Jerry Robinson, who was named at the recent Wizard world Madison.)

Doran will be recognized in a ceremony at Wizard world Comic con Oklahoma City on Friday, October 27. She is possibly best known for her long-running, manga-influenced science fiction epic A distant Soil, but she has also done too much work for DC, Vertigo, Marvel, Disney, and image to list. Her much more recent credit reports include amazing fantastic Incredible, a comic-format biography of Stan Lee, and an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Troll Bridge.

“I am really and deeply honored to be so warmly welcomed by Wizard world into the company of other great creators I admire and respect,” said Doran. “Wizard world has been such a great home for me and for numerous other artists. It is humbling and gratifying to be in their company, and I can’t wait to see everyone in Oklahoma City! This is delightful news, and I can’t wait to draw even much more comics in hopes of being worthy of this kind and generous distinction.”

The Wizard world Hall of Legends is “an initiative to celebrate the artists, writers, and insiders who built the industry and continued the traditions.” Which is nicely vague enough to cover the broad variety of creators named so far. They needed another polish on their press release, though, because Doran is labeled “a true pioneer among females in the comics industry”. (“Women” is more suitable to “females”, which sounds oddly, fakely scientific.)
